Butterflies

Came home from work and found two butterflies flying around… Matilda and the kids had visited the local “science center” and were offered facepainting with their favorite butterfly. Filip insisted on a “batman-version”, while Clara was happy to get a colorful variant with large wings. Matilda passed on the opportunity to try out some new make-up tips…

2008 Review

Tonight I’ve been sifting through my photographic archives to compile our family photo yearbook. I thought I’d share some photos from the past year that haven’t been published on the blog.

January
Jan 2008
Gustav is newborn, and we’re gathering for a holiday get-together at Ulf and Sofia’s home. Grandpa is not as strong as he used to be, but gathered enough strength to join the celebration. We’re so pleased to be in his company…

February
Feb 2008
Gunnebo castle forest in Mölndal. We’ve grown to love this recreational area were we would typically go for walks during sunday afternoons. Later this year we moved away from Mölndal, and these outings is something I will miss sorely…

March
Mar 2008
I took three trips to Italy this year to join a course as part of my surgical training. This picture, from the “old town” in Bergamo captures some of my feelings of this wonderful country.

April
Apr 2008
This year I got tired of over-priced and artifically tasting bread from the supermarket and started to bake my own. Clara is always very eager to help…

May
May 2008
May came with wonderful summer weather. We celebrated Matildas birthday during the first week and even mustered enough courage to go for a quick swim. She got some new sunglasses and looked so cool…

June
Jun 2008
Clara and Filip are joined by their cousin Hannes and enjoy granpas rowingboat down by the lake…

July
I couldn’t decide on which picture to pick from july, so I included two:
Jul 2008 A
Uncle Daniel is leading one of the events of the Mollösund Olympic Games – competing in how far you can spit a candy frog. He has the undivided attention of all cousins…

Jul 2008 B
Clara is walking bare-foot on a gravel road as she’s coming home from a late evening swim.

August
Aug 2008
Still bare-foot, but now wearing sweatshirts. Filip, Clara and cousin Christoffer are discovering the surroundings of the Vinga light-house in the outer archipelago of Göteborg.

September
Sep 2008
During September we started the move to our new home in Göteborg. Close by is Hinsholmen harbor and looking at the boats is a new favorite past-time.

October
Oct 2008 B
Birger & Kari are leaving for an 18 month mission at the family history library in Salt Lake City. They gather most of the family (David and his family were unable to come down from Norway) and we take a group picture.

Oct 2008
The result of the cousins pumpkin carving at granma’ and granpa’s at Halloween.

November
Nov 2008
November landscape as seen from the airplane coming home from my third Italy trip in the middle of the month.

December
Dec 2008
Gustav is just about to turn one and has started to take his first steps. He’s a sunbeam spreading joy as we go about visiting friends, neighbors and family and sing carols during Lucia.

Bolliaden 2008-2009

We have tradition of “youth-conferences” in the church, and this year I was asked to organize our annual winter sporting convent, “Bolliaden”. 5 days packed with sports, dances, lectures, activities, classes and a spiritual meeting. This year was the 40th anniversary, so we wanted to make it something really special. We found a great school to rent in Skene, just outside of Göteborg, and planned the activity from monday to friday during the new year’s week. It’s been alot of work, but with great help from alot of people we made everything come together!

I had such a great time! The participants were great and most activities exceeded our expectations. During the days I was mostly running around doing “organizing-stuff”, so most pictures were taken during the evenings. But we’ll start with one from the volleyball tournament were William played like a king. He smashed spike after spike and led his team to win the finals.

We had two bands play during part of the dances. This is Robin playing guitar in the band “Echoe”. They rock!

Echoe rocks!

We started the new year celebration with a gala dinner. Getting 300 people together in a candlelite room really gets you in the right mood for a new year’s party.

Matilda found a babysitter and came out and joined me on New Year’s eve. Here Nick, Markus and Marie are helping the both of us prepararing (soft) drinks for a new year’s toast under the fireworks.

Happy New Year 2009!

During the last dance we had a “movie night” theme. Barbie from “Scrubs” (Evelina) is examining Braveheart (Isak).

My favorite costume was Kenny Starfighter (Oscar). Matilda thinks he looks really good in long hair…

I regret not having a picture of the whole organizing committee together, but this is a snapshot of half of the committee (02.30, cleaning up after the “movie night” theme dance):
