We’re adventurous. At least we used to think so – we married young, I dreamed of conquering mountain peaks around the world, Matilda wanted to travel to distant countries. We both planned to work for MSF, help those in need, experience strange cultures. We planned to visit exotic and beautiful places, see wild animals and maybe sail around the world.
So where are we? Well, we’ve checked a few items off our list, but only enough to scratch the surface. Four years ago Matilda gave me the unexpected but wonderful news – I was to be a father. And within three and a half years we were the parents of not one, not two but three children. Diapers, strollers and bedtime stories have put some of our original plans on hold.
So, some may say we’re not as adventurous as we used to. Maybe they’re right, but I’m not so sure. The dictionary defines an adventure as “an undertaking usually involving danger and unknown risks” but also “an exciting or remarkable experience”. I cannot think of a more risky, exciting or remarkable undertaking than raising a child. To me having a family is probably the greatest adventure of all.
This blog is primarily a way to stay in touch with friends and relatives. But also to show some of the “everyday adventures” our children bring. To me they’re hard to trump.
Mount Everest isn’t going anywhere and last I checked the oldest man to climb Everest was 71 years old. That gives me 39 more years to prepare. Maybe Filip, Clara and Gustav will join me?

I have been sitting here for half an hour looking at your blog, with a constant smile on my face. Your every day stories really warm the heart. Woooonderful photos (congrats to the new camera) on every post! I’m going to add this site to my blogroll so Angelica and I can check in frequently – and hopefully many people as well. Keep up the good work!
Brother Louis

As Louis, I have kept a smile on my face as a scrolled through your pages. Your idea of seeing your children as one of the greatest adventures in life is wonderful. I totally agree! Since they are part of your everyday life, it naturally makes every moment an adventure – isn’t that great?!
